💜 Polecon ‘24 (yeah, I know it was over a week ago)
What a great time! My favorite one that I’ve attended so far. There was so much! I did a certification with @verticaljoes, attended some great workshops and watched amazing performances (of course I’m biased to a few of my fav must sees @jenijanoisliquid and @ellimay6) and it was fun to be part of @jaxpole Creepy Showcase routine. I saw some of my favorite peeps, a lot people that I haven’t seen in a while and even made some new friends. Oh, and the shopping? I bought some goodies that I’m super excited about from @naughtygoddexx, @rarrdesigns, and the best ever leg warmers from @shop.rolling (I got my own, Jeni, no need to wear yours next time!) I even got a bit of additional fun in after-hours in the casino.
But I think one of the most important parts of the whole event was the launch of the Liquid Motion Movement Project. I had my entire Rebel crew take the pledge! (You can too!) It’s an honor to be part of some important change in the industry and I almost felt like a celebrity with my face up on their banner! I attended the discussion panel with @rozthediva and @jballpoles about plus size movement and dancers, which was great. Something that more people should have attended, for sure.
Overall takeaway from the whole weekend? Countdown is on for next year!

Friends and community, I felt so many big feelings during this performance 😅 But what I remember most was the joy of reconnecting with the sensations of my fingers again! GOD it felt sooo GOOD to peel back the layers of this lovely @mariemur set and be free! 🤠

I often bring awareness to my hands (and sometimes feet) as a strategy to deepen presence and mindfulness when I dance. A technique from my very real life of managing anxiety. I’m laughing at myself so hard (joyfully!) to see how this mental health tip is becoming a signature in my improv performances haha. Dance is life! 🤣💃🏽🪩
