Interview with New PoleCon Instructor: Stephanie Tallant
We are sitting down to talk to our new instructors for PoleCon 2024! Learn more about them and then click here to purchase their workshop
1. We’re so excited to have you teach at PoleCon this year! Can you tell us a little more about what you’re teaching?
I am so excited to be teaching at PoleCon this year! I’ll be teaching my “Russian Split Mastery” Workshop. I remember seeing this move in a picture early on when I first started pole. I remember thinking to myself.. “well, that looks insanely challenging AND I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to do it, BUT I’m sure as heck going to try my best!!”. Over the almost 10 years in my pole journey, I have dedicated A LOT of time studying proper technique, body mechanics, and muscle engagement for many pole tricks. Russian split is one of the pole tricks that I spent the most time studying, so I decided to create a workshop around it! I love teaching active flexibility techniques & progressions to this move in a step-by-step fashion that make it feel more approachable and possible to all students that want to learn it! I’m so stoked to share everything that I know to those in my workshop!
2. Is there something that defines your style of teaching or your content that is unique to you?
My students say that I’m really good at watching them attempt a move and then being able to identify the smallest little “game changer” correction (ie through a shift in their gaze, in their push/ pull, in their pelvic rotation, in their muscle engagement etc).
3. What is the one thing you want your students to leave with after taking your workshop?
If russian split is on their goal list, I want them to feel that they know exactly the step they are currently on with the move and what they need to do and practice to make it to the next step. For those that already have this move mastered, I hope they leave with an even better understanding of it and with new inspiration for combos!
4. What are you most excited about for PoleCon 2024?
I look forward to this event soooo much, because it’s an opportunity to be around hundreds of others who share my passion for pole & movement!! Being able to meet old friends, make new friends, see virtual students, watch inspiring performances, take challenging workshops, and (new this year) share my knowledge through teaching… it’s simply a weekend of pure joy for me!!
5. Anything else you want to share with PoleCon attendees?
I’ll also be performing in the Artistic/ Contemporary Showcase Saturday at 5pm, so if you’re around, come watch! Also, those in my workshop will receive a special discount to my pole app, Pole with Steph! Last but not least, I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE ALL OF YOU! Please connect with me on instagram and let me know you’ll be there – @stephanietallant_pole
