Interview with New PoleCon Instructor: Asia Q
We are sitting down to talk to our new instructors for PoleCon 2025! Learn more about them and then click here to purchase their workshop
1. We’re so excited to have you teach at PoleCon this year! Can you tell us a little more about what you’re teaching?
I’m teaching a segment of my signature workshop series—Flowing in Cursive: Transitions. This is my OG workshop, my baby, and the workshop I’ve taught the most! It focuses on small details within basic movements to enhance transition dynamics. The concepts we discuss can be applied to all kinds of moves.
2. Is there something that defines your style of teaching or your content that is unique to you?
My signature workshop series is named Flowing in Cursive because my friend, Darknight, suggested the name to me as a description of my style, which I’ve been told is tender, fluid, and intentional. Students have shared that my teaching style is thorough, that I have the ability to cater my teaching to various mindsets, learning styles, and backgrounds, and that I excel in cultivating a welcoming space.
3. What is the one thing you want your students to leave with after taking your workshop?
While I would love for them to leave with a few technical skills, what I ultimately strive for all students to take away from my classes at some point is that they are capable dancers. I want to empower them to experiment and find what works and resonates with them so they are energized and really inspired by themselves.
4. What are you most excited about for PoleCon 2025?
I’m excited to reconnect with pole community members I haven’t seen/been in contact with in a while, as well as forming new connections.
5. Anything else you want to share with PoleCon attendees?
I travel and teach! If we don’t get to connect at PoleCon, you can follow my instagram (@asiaqpoles) to see where I’ll be teaching next. I also launched my virtual learning platform in February, so I can teach people regardless of where we are in the world. It’s linked in my bio on IG if you feel compelled to check it out!
