Interview with New PoleCon Instructor: Megan Loreen
We are sitting down to talk to our new instructors for PoleCon 2024! Learn more about them and then click here to purchase their workshop
1. We’re so excited to have you teach at PoleCon this year! Can you tell us a little more about what you’re teaching?
To be a PoleCon virgin AND get to teach one of my movement love affairs, still gets my heart fluttering! My Acro Chair workshop is meant for everyone and includes multilevel tricks and dance transitions with progressions. You will learn how twist, turn, balance, dance, and trick on all parts of the chair while putting it all together in a gorgeously controlled flow. Afterwards, be prepared to see acro prop opportunities everywhere! Chairs, benches, rocks, railings, you name it, you can probably dance on it. These skills are meant to be taken out of the workshop and applied to whatever your heart desires!
2. Is there something that defines your style of teaching or your content that is unique to you?
Put together a former educator, a cirque performer, and strategy gamer… and you get me! I truly believe that if a student wants to get a skill, there is a teaching method and a version of that skill that is attainable. So much of my knowledge comes from going through the process of troubleshooting all by myself and with students. I wasn’t a dancer or gymnast growing up, but I love to problem solve and deep dive for explanations. Combine that with my love to perform and educate and I will work tirelessly on finding ways to help my students. Let my years of training research be your 1 day road to success!
3. What is the one thing you want your students to leave with after taking your workshop?
I want students to leave my workshop feeling positively energized. Pumped about what they were capable of doing and excited to take those skills home! I love seeing progress, so tag me in your posts and always feel free to DM any questions.
4. What are you most excited about for PoleCon 2024?
The community!! I can’t wait to see old friends and make new ones. Of course I’m excited to teach and perform in the Aerial Showcase, but that wouldn’t be the case if everyone wasn’t so welcoming and each other’s hype person. The love for movement is palpable and the spark of new found enthusiasm and creativity afterward is incredible.
5. Anything else you want to share with PoleCon attendees?
Please come say hi and strike up a conversation with me! I can be shy or too respectful of other people’s space, but I really want to meet everyone and appreciate it when anyone comes up to talk. https://www.instagram.com/megan.loreen
