Interview with New PoleCon Instructor: Venus the Virgo

1. We’re so excited to have you teach at PoleCon this year! Can you tell us a little more about what you’re teaching?
This year I’m teaching individuals how to grab the attention of patrons in the Strip Club. We will work on various techniques to rid shyness, and to add confidence. This workshop is for those with pole experience. Attendees should be able to shoulder mount or shoulder descent.
2. Is there something that defines your style of teaching or your content that is unique to you?
Yes! I am a current entertainer and pole studio owner so I understand what currently works in the clubs when it comes to performing. My style is athletic, sensual, and high energy all at the same time.
3. What is the one thing you want your students to leave with after taking your workshop?
The main goal is to know how to work the crowd without just “doing” pole tricks. They will know how to perform each pole trick adding their own personality to each move.
4. What are you most excited about for PoleCon 2024?
I’m excited to to meet all the beautiful people I see online everyday!
It’s my first time performing and teaching a workshop at the same. Every year that I attend Pole Con, I fall in love with what I do more and more and I’m able to pour into others even more and just improve as a pole dancer overall. So the overall idea of being with thousands of pole dancers is always a dream of mine!
5. Anything else you want to share with PoleCon attendees?
I’m excited to watch all the other performers and to take some of my favorite workshops with all the amazing instructors. Good grip to all performers!
Colleen Jolly is an entrepreneur and a pole dance enthusiast. She has been poling for 13 years, is the CEO of PoleCon and the Executive Director of the IPIA. She teaches pole, lyra, floorwork, and mobility online and in-person in the DC metro area. She has been active in leadership roles in several international businesses over the past two decades and is also an award-winning pole dancer, artist, writer, and speaker. She is certified in several movement modalities and wrote the book "Mobility for Pole" to help pole dancers move better.
