Headshot of Kimberly Nobrega1. We’re so excited to have you teach at PoleCon: West this year! Can you tell us a little more about what you’re teaching?

I’m very excited to be teaching a workshop called “When In Doubt, Touch Yourself.” This is an all-levels session that explores movement techniques such as tactile cues, initiation, breath, and connection to create captivating, alluring, sensual movement. The goal is participants get to walk away with a deeper understanding on how to create and develop their unique movement in a way that is simultaneously deeply personal and voyeuristic.

2. Is there something that defines your style of teaching or your content that is unique to you?

I believe movement is for every body and it is deeply personal and unique. While I am a technical learner and instructor (I geek out on the how and why, especially for safety and longevity of movement practice), I also love to have fun with it. If it’s not fun, why do it? I tend to encourage my students to think about marinating in each move to get just that little bit more out of it and playing with not only how it feels, but how it presents to a viewer. There’s a lot of ways to chase that overarching idea so it’s a bit of a rabbit hole experience at times.

3. What is the one thing you want your students to leave with after taking your workshop?

I love this workshop because it supports building mind-body connections in how you move. My goal is that participants develop a deeper understanding of how to capture that for themselves as a mover in the workshop material and beyond. Simultaneously, the deep dive into the concepts encourages participants to relish in an aesthetic component of what they are doing that manifests itself into a personal experience that not only feels empowering but outwardly looks visually stimulating.

4. What are you most excited about for PoleCon: West 2025?

Seeing the incredible performances, meeting everyone attending (familiar and new), and checking out all the booths, workshops, and seminars! PoleCon has a real vibe to it that is electric and so much fun- it’s always such a great time.

5. Anything else you want to share with PoleCon: West attendees?

I love that PoleCon has been an incredible opportunity to meet new people and celebrate the pole community so if you see me just say “Hi!” I will be helping Sway Movewear celebrate their 10th Anniversary at their booth (secret squirrel heads up: there’s going to be some great things happening there for PoleCon attendees) and I am also thrilled to be performing in the Moms Who Pole Showcase on Saturday! It might be safe to say I am simply counting down the days until PoleCon West happens…
