Interview with New PoleCon Instructor: Lisel
We are sitting down to talk to our new instructors for PoleCon 2026! Learn more about them and then click here to purchase their workshop
1. We’re so excited to have you teach at PoleCon 2026 this year! Can you tell us a little more about what you’re teaching?
I’ll be teaching two workshops: Spatchcock and Floorwork & Acro Progressions.
Spatchcock is one of my signature shapes, so that class is focused on understanding the mechanics behind it—how to approach it safely, efficiently, and creatively. We’ll break down the position itself and then explore unique entries, exits, and transitions so it feels intentional and fluid, not forced.
My floorwork workshop blends grounded movement, control, and acro-based progressions. We’ll work through techniques that help dancers move with clarity and confidence on the floor while still leaving room for musicality and personal style.
2. Is there something that defines your style of teaching or your content that is unique to you?
I’m very detail-oriented and mechanics-driven, but I also care deeply about how movement feels. I love breaking down advanced shapes in a way that makes them accessible, then layering creativity on top.
I’m especially known for finding non-traditional pathways—different ways into and out of shapes like spatchcock—so dancers aren’t just hitting a move, but dancing through it. I always offer progressions and regressions so students can meet the material where they are while still feeling challenged.
3. What is the one thing you want your students to leave with after taking your workshop?
Clarity and confidence.
I want students to leave understanding why a movement works, not just how to copy it. Whether it’s a shape, a transition, or floorwork sequence, my goal is for them to feel empowered to apply the concepts to their own training and choreography long after the workshop ends.
4. What are you most excited about for PoleCon 2026?
The energy and the community. PoleCon is such a unique space where high-level training, creativity, and support all exist together. I’m excited to connect with dancers who are hungry to learn, experiment, and push themselves—and to be surrounded by instructors and performers who inspire me just as much as I hope to inspire others.
5. Anything else you want to share with PoleCon attendees?
Come curious and come open. You don’t need to be perfect—you just need to be present.
Ask questions, explore different approaches, and allow yourself to move in ways that feel authentic to you. PoleCon is about growth, connection, and celebrating what our bodies can do, and I can’t wait to share that experience with everyone.
